Yet another "Which Receiver to Get" Thread

Hi folks.
You guys (and gals) have been great help so far with the HT information, and I have all my speakers picked out, and some purchased and in place.
Now, to put it all together and get this thing complete, I need to add the receiver.
First, my speakers
What I have
Polk Tb90 (basically Monitor 60s)
Polk Csi 3 Center
What I will soon get
Polk Fxi3
A subwoofer - will probably be the last item added. I have a Cambridge Soundworks Sub at my house, but probably won't wire it in, as it's pretty cruddy.
Here are the choices that i can afford
All from HarmanAudio.com
AVR 335Z
AVR 435Z
AVR 670
All clock in around 5 bills, which is where I want to end up. I have decided to go with remanufactured, as I get twice the box for the money. With my speaker set up, in a smallish decorated family room, which would be the best choice?

Great advice should be followed.
When I bought my Onkyo it had pre-outs and I didn't care. Now I added an amp and I am so glad they were there.Skynut

Sounds great, but that isn't what I need to know at this time, as I still need to get the HT system going before I add amps, for whatever reason. So, are all these receivers underpowered? Are they overpowered for my set-up? Is that why amps are being brought up? Other amps are not a concern right now, and definitely not in the budget.
Really, I need to know if any of these receivers are good for my speaker set-up in the room that they will reside in. Other amps just aren't a concern right now. Regardless, all those H/K amps I listed have pre-outs.Harman Kardan AVR 630

Onkyo sr703 would be fine to get you going. The best part about it is the auto eq (calibrated microphone included) and the pre outs. I will be enough to power your system. If you have money left over, i would then start adding more amps. (you can read any posts about "seperates" to learn more about why people add external amps)Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture. -
I guess I just need to rephrase my question...
Of the three Karman Kardon units that I listed, which do you think best suits my current speaker configuration, listed above, in a 14x14 furnished living room?
Onkyo is not in the running.

I can tell you that i just got a refurbished 435x HK receiver today and it is set up with rti6 fronts, csi3 center, and psw10 sub and it sounds amazing. My room is 20x14 with open to kitchen and dining room and it is plenty of power. If your room is 14x14 it will have plenty of power, and it has pre outs. Not to mention it is beautiful!!!

Since all have room to grow in the future, get the one that has the most power & enjoy! I couldn't find the AVR 670 on the site.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Yup. Just base your decision on what processing features you want and get the one that has the most power. I'm not sure I'd bother with external amplification for the TB90's, but maybe I'm misjudging the speakers seeing as how I haven't heard them.George Grand wrote: »

I would think you are correct in that assumption.
The reason people ar having trouble locating that 670 on the site is because it doesn;t exist! I had the model number incorrect. It's an AVR 630.
Sorry for the confusion. I think I will go with the 630, as it has a bit more power. The only thing I am concerned about is the lack of the auto-set feature in the slightly older xx0 line. The reason I was considering the lesser power xx5 series was really just that feature. Is that feature worth doing for, or is the 630 the better deal, at about the same price?

Ditto. Just get you an SPL meter (which you should get regardless) and set it up yourself.George Grand wrote: »

Hey, "Polk folks"...sounds a lot like "po' folks". And I'm sure that's an equally applicable term after some of us go off on buying sprees!George Grand wrote: »

i'm looking to replace my older Marantz SR5000 receiver with something new now.. but i'm having trouble deciding if I want to go with another Marantz or a Denon or HK. I haven't really even considered any other brands of receivers. my budget is $700 give or take a few bucks..
I'd like an Outlaw 990 pre amp.. but it's just a little outside my reach.
Any thoughts on what else to look at? At this point the Denon's and Marantz's are about equal to me. How about an Denon 3805? Last years model over the 3806?
Onecall.com no longer carries Marantz, and very limited Denon's.
*oh yeah, i don't need tons of power in a receiver either.. i got all the external amps i need.. so that's not a problem for me.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

You just answered your own question DB. If an Outlaw is what you really want then just save more money & get it.
