I have room roughly 15x20.

Looking at getting
RTi6 fronts
RTi4 or FXi3 rear
CSi3 center
PSW 303 or 404 sub

Denon AVR-2105

Any suggestions, thoughts, comments would be helpful.

Thanks

Thats a good sized room, you might want to consider towers instead of bookshelf speakers for the mains. FX speakers will provide a more difused sound field and work well on the sides or as rear speakers too. The 303 and 404 are fine for entry level subs but you might want to look at other brands as well.

Can't help you with the Denon, never heard it.

Not sure what your budget is, but here's a suggestion:
RTi 8 fronts- big room, bigger speakers
Csi 5 Center-don't skimp on the center-too important
    FXi3's rear
Martin Logan Grotto subwoofer-best small sub money can buy, with a huge output despite its size
Outlaw Audio model 1070 receiver (a whole hell of a lot better than Denon, for not much more).
    approx $3500
That's an awesome system for a decent price. You could get away with Rti 6 mains, but the 8's would require less volume to get the sound field going for music, whereas the 6's would need more power to fill the room.
The Grotto is the best 10" sub available. At $1000 it isn't cheap, but you cannot find a more musical sub, nor one that is that small (high spousal acceptance factor!) and has that amount of heft. Do yourself a favor and audition it before you buy a sub. You won't regret it.
The Outlaw receiver is a great piece, their gear is oft recommended on the forum and elsewhere, and the receiver just got a great review in Home Theater magazine. At 65 wpc it's not the most powerful amp in the world, but those watts are realistic, unlike the Denon's ratings. The 2105 isn't a terrible amp, but is not enough for the discerning music listener. At 50% music, you need to do much better.
Honestly, for a bit higher budget, you could be really happy, and be reasonably free of upgraditis. Put some thought into this, man, it's something you'll spend a lot of time with.

I have to agree with Gregure on his recommendations on speakers with one exception. If you have room for it, an SVS sub will make the whole system rock the house. Also as greture said, do NOT skimp on the center speaker. A clear, crisp dialogue in HT is very important for the full effect.

As for music, the larger RTi8's as a two speaker system will sound much fuller than the RTi6's for such a large room. The RTi6's only have a tweeter and 6.5" speaker working as both the mids and lows. The RTi8's have dual 6.5" speakers to help with the lower bass (10hz lower) and you can load them up with more power. Of course if space is a premium, then the RTi6's may be the best you can do. Just play your music as a 2.1 system rather than a 2 speaker system.

what greg said- plus if you upgrade the cs to the 5 model, do the same for the F/X's in light of the vaulted ceiling.

considering the size of your room and you using a sub- i would think the 6's would be just fine.

Yes, very good advice from all the above threads. For your room size go with the Rti8’s fronts. My HT area is about the same as yours and the 8’s will do a lot better than the 6’s.

I have tested my HT setup with Rti6’s as fronts and than Rti8's as fronts with different DVD movies and the Rti8’s came as winners on all of them. Did the same with my Csi3 and Csi5 and the Csi5 sounds a lot better in my room than the 3.

If you can swing buying them both, try them out for 30 days and see which one you like better. Return the one you don't like for a credit.

    Does that include the subwoofer???

If that's your budget, then take your time and don't rush to buy every speaker tomorrow. Do it right the first time. As others have indicated, get floorstanders and the larger center channel, and maybe wait a while on the rear speakers. If you're willing to buy used speakers over the 'net, you'll save a ton of money. Also don't skimp on the sub. For your room size, entry level subs should not be considered. Get the biggest, baddest Hsu or SVS sub you can afford.

    Hey Gregure, Whats up?
I have the same speaker set up except for the sub. Been trying to decide between the B&k 507 series two, Denon 4806 or a Parasound. Can't find the BK around by me would have to travel alittle to hear it or buy it. Since you have the 507 can you tell me how you like it. does it have enough power to drive the Rti10's. Did you have a different receiver before and did you notice a change in sound. I am also thinking about trading up to Rti12's within the year. Will the BK be enough for those. Sorry about all the questions but I'm going CRAZY deciding what receiver to buy. When I saw your thred It was like COOL now can ask someone who knows. THANKS for your help with this.

kmitchel do an a/b comparo between the 6's and the 8's- with and without a sub before you spend the extra money on the 8's. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
