Has anyone played around with putting resistors on the sl2000's? I'm thinking about trying it. What value/values should I try besides the 100% ones that some of you will recommend? Thanks.

Are you upgrading the crossover, or trying to tame the output?

Tame the output to sound more like a SL3000.

You aren't going to be able to tame the 'spike' centered at 12K cycles, without affecting the overall response. Your cheapest, and best alternative, if you absolutley refuse to buy new tweeters, is to put a graphic equalizer inline (parametric preferred), and reduce the line signal around that frequency (12Khz) by 3-5db.

If you want to try a resistor across the leads, start around ~18ohm - should give around a 3db drop.
