How do you 'hide' you real name? So people on the other end can inly see your yahoo ID or nickname? I've been looking for it for 30 minutes, and can't find the 'off' toggle.

Does your name = the email address?

I think Yahoo does the email address (not the whole thing)...

Like when I sign in on Yahoo I sign in with Alektra2002............... and it shows up as Alektra2002. I dont think you can change that. I know you can change other peoples name to what you want to see them as (real name) and they can change yours, but you cant like change your SN without making a new one.

    My yahoo ID is 'russman_dac'

It shows 'Russ Gates' in the goddamn window. I logged into my profile, cleared my first name field (there wasn't anything in my last name), and added a nickname - no change whatsoever.

    Russ.

I had a similar problem with a Yahoo email account. When someone got a email from me it showed my name twice in the who it was from space. I changed my profile more than once but still had the problem. I searched all over the site several times before I found out how to fix my problem. I do not remember for sure how I fixed this, but I'll look and see if I can get it figured out. Don't waste you time changing the profile, it just will not work.

Thanks Joe, if you can make it happen, I'll send you a handful of vintage Stereophile issues as thanks.

    Russ.

I don't know if this will help with messenger, but I'm pretty sure this is how I fixed my problem with my email account. Log on to yahoo, click options. Under managemt click preferences. That will put you on a page with your personal info. Try to make the change there. If it works don't worry about any payment. If it doesn't work maybe some more research will be in order.......
