Budget =$1200, amp + speaker suggestions?
Hey everyone,
Just starting to do some research on the next purchases...
Just got an H/K 635, and LOVE it. Sounds great with just my little cambridge soundworks cube speakers, so that is staying as the pre-amp.
I'm still living the apartment life, so size does matter with speakers. My first choice are bookshelves, but I have to say the LSi15s are a (size) "sacrifice" I'd be glad to make. I'm looking primarily to stay w/ 2 ch. at this point.
Listening habits are 60/40 music/movies, and I'm much more concerned with music than movie performance. I listen to a huge variety of music, from Coltrane to Outkast to Tom Petty to Bach to Green Day to David Gray (literally everything except country).
Budget is $1200-1500, but I might be convinced to jump up to 2K if something fantasitic comes along. Any suggestions for amp/speaker selections? Just speakers? Thanks in advance!
PS anyone know some good places to audition in Tampa, FL? (besides Sound Advice...)

2 channel?
Used LSi15 + used Rotel RB1070 (preamp will be your 635)Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R -
Lsi9 & don't look back. You live in an apartment right? Imo towers are tacky in a small setting and monitors typically have more accurate midrange re-production due to the lack of cabinet resonances.
Try Outlaw or Adcom. IMO Adcom, H/K and Polk make for a wonderful combination but i'm judging based on RTi, not LSi. -
Get a pair of Lsi9's with a ATI 1502 2-channel amp. Use the remaining budget on a nice set of speaker stands, good speaker cables and interconnects.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
