I am looking for a new pair of front towers. I lost a pair of old RT 16 in the hurricane. Any suggestions.

    Welcome to CLub POlk.

We are going to need more info like...

What kind of equipment are you using?
Do you want it for movies or music? 50/50% or 80/20% or 20/80%?
What kind of budget do we have to work with?
    New or used?
    Do you have a sub?

All very important to give you sound advice.

I am no expert but please give me a chance. When I received my RTI-8 to replace my CS New Ensembles I was very dissapointed. Then when I replaced my CS 8sub with a Polk 505, everyting made sense. I honestly think this system will last from here on, unless martians exist. The system is fabulous, deep, high and subtle. I am finally content, something hard to find.

    Good Luck

what are you using now for fronts, the RTi8's? why were you disappointed in them? do you like more low end bang from your towers? Just trying to find out a little more info. so we can recommend the right front speakers for you. Sounds like you are happy with your Polk 505 subwoofer.

If you liked your old RT16's... maybe look at vintage polks again.. say maybe a pair of LS90's for instance.

Where do you live by the way? if close to one of us.. you may be able to get a demo on someones system.. that might help with your decisions. I always prefer to have a home demo over a store demo any day of the week.

    NoNoNo,

My prrevious Cambridge Soundworks New Ensembles allowed me to close my eyes and not be able to tell where the music was coming from. As soon as I switched to the RTI8 I could point directly toward the source, eyes closed. Now, withn the 505 sub, sound is much more seperated. The RTI8's are "loud speakers" that can not stand on their own but need a sub base. What do you think? By the way, I have the 8's for the front speakers.

    Thanks
