On Topic: It is good to see that people still hold the Flag in high regards...

    Agreed. Outstanding gesture of patriotism.

    So now the question is...

    How do I burn it?
Like it doesn't seem right to douse it in gas or lighter fluid but I don't want it to go out half way through either.
I was thinking about putting it on top of a fire in our back yard pit.

maybe I will just take it to the VFW.

Some States require a burning permit to burn a flag.

    You do in NC.

    Just a, FWIW

It’s good to see you have enough respect for the flag to display and dispose of it properly! Too many people /companies leave them up way too long. I give worn out flags from my company to our scout troop for burning. They have an impressive ceremony the use when they burn them.

Do your fire pit idea. Have the kids there too. You are acting in the right spirit, and that's all that should matter.

    Thanks George.

I think I will have a ceremony with the kids involved and explain all this to them.
They are pretty darn patriotic right now and this will just help reinforce that spirit.
