    MM/MC or both?

If you are OK with just MM you might want to consider the Bellari VP129. I've heard a number of positive comments about it. Also I just got the new Stereophile today and Michael Fremer wrote a brief but RAVE review about it.

Oh yea it doubles as a headphone amp too.

Here are some links to different retailers.

Anybody else have opinions on this Bellari unit? It's a phone preamp that doubles as a headphone amp...I will want a headphone amp this year or next, and a phono pre would be nice in a few years. Does it do a good job at both? It sure isn't a lot of dough if does both nicely...

I am upgrading and can do the Parasound for 90.00 shipped. Its MM, not gruntball by any means but a decent low cost entry phono-pre.

I just ordered one this afternoon for my father's new rig. It should be here middle of next week along with his new Music Hall MMF-5. As soon as I have a chance to do some extended listening I would be happy to post a short review.

    RT1.

Is that the PPH-100 you are referring to? If so there are two jumpers inside that can be moved to switch it to MC mode.

The Bellari looks interesting. I'd be interested in your impressions of it.

OK. I haven't had time to get everything broken in yet, but I just couldn't wait to post. This little Bellari phono stage sounds great! I have only had it running for about two hours and I am already quite impressed. And I love the variable output. It's nice to switch between sources and not have to deal with significant volume changes. I have not yet tried the headphone amp, but if it is anything like the phono side I can't imagine having any complaints.

I'll try to keep from saying anything more until everything is fully run in. But I have a feeling good things are coming!

    Later!
