Can anyone tell me what Op Amp this thing uses - I heard there was an upgrade for it...

What does it take to do it...

How much?

And where can I find it?

Thanks!

Cool mod. Looks like you can do it without being a surgeon with the iron.

I've made 4 or 5 sets of these for people here on the forum. The normal upgrade is the opa627. You can find them on Ebay for between $2.50-$5.00 each. The Browndog adapters are available through Cimmaron Technologies for around $2.40 apiece but they have a minimum order of 5 or 6. Those pictures are a bit misleading. The actual adapters and opamps are so tiny it makes it very hard to solder. You need a magnifying glass, some decent silver content solder, a very fine point on your iron, above average skills and a very steady hand. You can buy them already assembled from Upscale Audio I believe for around $60 per module. You'll need two modules. You can make them yourself for around $12 per module. I think I have one module already assembled but ran out of parts for the second one. I used the adapter pictured. One opamp mounts on each side so you need two opamps per module.

Luck for me, I AM a surgeon. I don't think an 8-dip regardless of size would be a challenge, unless it was in the dark, on a rowboat, upsidedown. But, that is just cause I'm really really really cool. But, thanks for the links- I may use them.
