Need part for SL 2000 (mfg date 1986)

I need a replacement tweeter for my speaker. Model is SL 2000. The date on the faulty tweeter is Mar. 18, 1986. It appears that both tweeters are the same. The "bad" one is on the left as you look at the speaker. I sent email to Polk Audio but I have a feeling they will not have a replacement part given the age.

Any suggestions on how to replace would be appreciated.

You are correct, Polk no longer has them. However, I believe there are a few for sale right here in the Flea Market section.

Failing that, SL2000s appear on eBay quite frequently, usually at pretty minimal prices -- and Polk can supply improved replacements with silk domes if you're willing to retrofit both speakers and pay the Club Polk discounted cost of $96/pair shipped.

The silk domes are an often-praised upgrade to these speakers. Would be a direct drop-in replacement, but it's recommended to do both speakers at the same time, as the tweeters do have different sound characteristics. Call Polk CS and ask for the SL2000 replacements, also mention that you're a Club Polk member and you'll get the discount quoted above..

Or, just find another SL2000 to replace your dead one. I think the silk upgrade is worth it, though... I'm just waiting to get the money to do my SDA's... By the way, the model for the replacement is RD0194-1
    Ludicrous gibs!

Someone from the Club has one and is willing to let it go. This was easy. Thanks everyone.

The SL2000's have a plastic dome, which has a nasty frequency hump, which can come across as listening fatigue. I find it hard to listen to my SDA2's for long periods of time as the tweeters just start to get on my nerves. The silk domes are said to be very smooth and easy to listen to. I'm waiting 'til I have the money to do all 4 of mine at once :D

Makes sense...my buddy has Monitor 10s, and we always felt my 10Bs were brighter than his. It bugged him more than me, maybe I am used to it...but now I am thinking of trying the new tweeters. Fortunately I only need two!

I am a little concerned the silk dome tweeters will be too laid back...have you heard them in action?
