I spent an hour at Fry's listening to the Lsi 9's switching back and forth between the 635 and the 335. Other than a little more bass from the 635 I could not see much of a difference...the volume was at -4. I am assuming at higher volumes i'd see a big difference, but at medium volume I couldn't see a $500 dollar difference...I paid 350 for the 335 it would be $800 for the 635 at fry's.

Anyone else have any personal experiences between the two?
Setup:

2 Channel: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand, T+A P 1230R, Primare SPA21, Oppo BDP-105
PC: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand, Cambridge Azure 650A v2 , Peachtree iDAC, Denon DVD-3800BDCI

It was -8 to about -4 range as I said the bass was better, but as far as the quality of the sound wasn't a HUGE difference.

I was primarily concerned because you said "at higher volumes...." and i was just pointing out that you are already playing them plenty loud :P

I have the 635 and the best part is that it converts all signals to component video so if you have a nice tv set then you should get teh 635 and controll everything through the receiver.

I also agree that -4 should be super loud. I cant have mine lower than -15.....its just too loud.

Frys rooms open up from 2500^3 to 20M. You can't measure what a receiver's output would be to "in room" levels. You could probably barely hear -4 inside Frys.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

-4 was loud at my Fry's each store is built completly different my Fry's has three rooms and a presentation room that's built like a movie theater. The receivers were in the same room you would still be able to hear the difference between the two.

-4 on my 630 and playing in stereo on LSi9 Fronts is louder than I've ever had it. I haven't had it past -15 and that was on a quiet passage in orchestral music just to mix it up.

You might check the preamp settings: The setting on the Front speakers on the 335 is probably maxed out +10 and the 635 is probably nearer 0.

Well, I had it around -8 most of the time and at times -4 with the lsi's, when I switched to the rti's they were LOUD, I didn't check the pre amp settings, but I did adjust the treble/bass the 335 was at +8 in treble and +10 in bass turned them down to 0. I listened to the 15's on the 335 and they great compared to my Rti4's I can't wait til I get a decent amp.
