Hi, I have a Dual Model XS10 Subwoofer. 375 Watts Peak 4Ohms
B00012O6U2.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
My friend let me borrow his Jenson 300Watt AX3022L Amp.

In under 10 Minutes it starts getting warm. I play it at a little above talking volume. Enough to raddle the clothes in my closet. Is it the amp or the sub, Im really confused as to why its drawing so much.

how warm is warm? most amps have a auto shutdown if they get too hot, just make sure it has plenty of breathing room.

Is the Jensen rated to drive 4 ohm loads?

Well, there's your problem. You can't run 4 ohm speakers off a bridged amp. The amp is seeing the load as 2 ohms and as a result will run hotter than hell. You could be buying your friend a new amp very soon.

I had a jensen when I was like 18(12 years ago) I had 2 cv 12's hooked up to it wired in parallel, and ran the jensen bridged( that's 1 ohm a channel) it was rated for 4 ohms a channel. The little bogger never failed, never went in to protection, but you could heat you car with it in the winter. Doesn't mean all jensen's are going to do this though

Not really.... just circuitry. What you have is a parallel-parallel situation.

And speakers don't "draw"... amps push.

but Jesse... 1 Ohm is less than 4 so it should be easier to drive.

But 16 12" Subs in parallel are .5 Ohms so even easier to drive then 1 Ohm....

Hmmm 16 Subs what a SQL that would make.........

The difference between your friends and yours is one thing...

    He has more wiring options.

He has dual voice coils, so he can wire them to a higher ohm load then when its bridged it would be brought back down to normal...

    No? This is the difference.

yes their is less impeadance, but it is actually harder to drive(more current getting fed back to the amp, less resistance to ground . 5ohms is almost like hooking the speaker wire together with out having a speaker in line)

    Is this 100.6* f or c?

if it is 100* f that that is a delta of only 30* or so... Completly acceptable.
