Hmm...I have 3 pairs of over-the-ear headphones under $50, 1 between $50 and $100, 1 between $100 and $200, and one between $200 and $300. Then it says I don't seem to have much interest in headphones. I must admit I don't have near as many as some on here (that'd be you mulveling and Joey_V!), but I didn't think having almost $700 in headphones meant I have 'little interest in headphones'.

Anyhoo, I think it'd be neat to see some headphones by Polk.

I really have a hard time seeing Polk enter the already tight headphone market. That is unless they are trying to compete with Bose, which wouldn't suprise me.

Actually I do think Polk could do a lot in the Headphone market in at least the box stores like Circuit City and Best Buy, selection at stores like that is always fairly limited, at least around here. The problem is that I think Sennheiser will be their biggest competition, they offer some great headphones that run the gamut on price and quality.

I too entered the survey, and I own about $600 worth of them right now. Most of my time listening to music is spent through headphones, and that's a lot. I realize $600 bucks is chump change, but I would have a hard time imagining that they'd be going after the upper echelon of audiophiles. That's never been their gig, rather quality speakers at an affordable price.

    Demi,
Did you make it through to the full survey? ab and I did not...

    Shizelbs,
With the I-Sonic and the SurroundBar, it's clear that you-know-who is squarely in Polk's sites, so why not HP's as well...

Well, thats what I am thinking. But, its not like they are introducing these products to compete with a company with a reputation of having great products. Just overhyped ones. Then again, I have yet to hear the surround bar and the i-sonic.

Ooops, I just remembered we have a second pair over $300. Both of those are noise-cancelling 'phones, though...and from you-know-who.

if anything Polk Audio should consider getting into the knock off iPod market.. Apple is just cleaning everyone's clocks in that genre. there is tons of $$ still to tap into that market.

They wouldn't be able to get the edge in that market. They're not as self sufficient with that type of product.

And I'd still get an iPod because of the click wheel. That's the only reason I want one. And it won't even play WMA files, which is what I'd really prefer.

Just "completed the March (or April) survey on iPods and docking stations. Again since I do not own either, I was booted out of the survey in short order.

What I don't understand about Polk's surveys is why they boot out non-owners? Since all tabulation is electronic, it would be simple enough to sort the results of all questions between owners and non-owners.

I'm not a marketer, but it seems to me that the above might just reveal a common, addressable reason why non-owners are "non-owners". And that addressing that reason might produce more sales than simply trying to one-up the products that owners already own...
