Does anybody have any info on any bootlegs for Blues Image? Their Open album is sooo good, they must have been a great show! :D

Saw them open for Chicago in '74... Their "Ride Captain Ride" tour... but did not have my cassette recorder with me.

I do have one LP from them, "Red, White and Blues Image"... Missing "RCR", but not too shabby. I do have a 45 of "RCR" though...

i wouldn't say i'm an authority ;) 'open' imho is some of the best recorded music of it's type from that era. the bulk of the record is actually very different than the 'hit' ride capt ride. the dominant players are the guitar, the hammond b3 and some great conga playing. it sounds mostly live in the studio. it's got a real good space to the instruments. ask madmax! he transfered my lp to cd ;) i know he was impressed

I actually do remember the bulk of their set being much different than RCR.

Bad part of the concert is my date had to get home so we missed the encore which was a 30+ minute "jam" with both BI and Chicago on stage. The concert review said it was outstanding.

Now , if you find a bootleg of that... :)

Saw both Dave (with Jim Capaldi) and Leon at separate free concerts in Houston a few years back.

Alone Together is one of the 30 or so LP's in my Top Ten list. It's all the Dave Mason you need to own.

And Leon, well, the voice is still there although today it seems like he just tolerates his audiences. He projected more personality when I saw him 30+ years ago in Cleveland Municipal Stadium.

I'll have to look for Alone Together ;) Dave introduced a song that he and Capaldi were working on before he died. He got all choked up :( . He still plays a mean guitar! Even my wife was impressed! The champagne MIGHT have helped :p
