Alright it is time to sell my tv, a Sony KV-34HS510. This is last years 34in sony tube HD. It was purchased May 2004 from Sears, and I still have the original manual, remote, receipts, and even the box and all the packaging. It has no cosmetic flaws, I took very good care of this tv as I was always planning on selling it to get a XBR. It sees very little use a day, since it is only in my bedroom HT and cable isn't even hooked up to it. I would say a average of 1.5hrs a day of games and movies. I do not smoke do not have any pets and never cleaned it with any abrasive cleaners. There are pictures of it in my profile, if there are any requests for more post and I will add them up there.
The HS510 is a phenomenal model, if you read the cnet review their listed weaknesses are the weight at around 180lbs, and the pre calibration performance. All Sony tubes out of the box have a lot of red push, are set in torch mode, and are overly sharpened. I have done a lot of work to this tv, close to 60hrs of calibration actually through the service menu. I have tweaked the set so it has near perfect geometry, convergence, and over scan. I also have done tweaks on each individual input, so a progressive source is optimized as well as an interlaced one. In laymens terms I have spent over 60 hours making this set have the best picture possible, many people have asked if we were watching HD while watching DVD, it is that good. IMHO the only thing that is going to beat this out for picture quality is a properly calibrated XS or XBR sony tube.
CNET REVIEW
Ok so I live in CT and would rather this be a local pickup, or I am willing to drive up to 75 miles to deliver this set. I would rather not ship it considering with the box and packaging it would be about 200lbs, so I imagine shipping would be around $200.
As for price, I am selling it for $650 as is, or if you choose to purchase a extended warranty for it I will add that for $100. The warranty was purchased 8/16/04 and goes until 8/16/07. I have checked online and in store, the warranty is transferable all you need is the receipt, and it is also returnable but the amount is prorated. I am selling this for $750 including the warranty.
Any interested parties can post or pm me, this will be up here for a couple of weeks, if I don't get any bites it will go up on videogon.

Toxis,
Not sure why I thought it was 186lbs, for some reason that number was always in my head so I figured an extra 15-20lbs for box and packaging. It is a beautiful picture, my problem is everyone who has seen it loves it, but wants a 50in+ size tv.
Chris,
Shipping would be pretty pricey for this thing, which kind of kills the deal. I would also rather it be local so someone could come see it in action, since I will be using it until I sell it, so the perspective buyer can see how good it really is.
Everyone,
One thing I forgot to mention with this set, is right now it is optimized for my setup, with 2% overscan with dvd on all sides, but this causes games to lose a little of their picture. What I mean is video games have almost no overscan, so if you play a game in 480p there are usually small black bars on the left and right, nothing on the top and bottom. Interlaced material is fine. If the buyer wants me to I can change it so there is a little more overscan with dvd, back to the original 4% on both sides so it looks fine with games, or leave it how it is.

Hi,
I have the 34xbr800 and the picture is beautiful, but I have never had it calibrated or tried to calibrate it myself using the service menu. Would you be willing to share your service menu settings, or offer some advice on calibration?
Thanks,

Ray,
We pretty much have the same TV so service menu stuff should be the same. I wont post here about it but look in the DIY and Tweaks section this weekend, I will post about my experience with these sony sets there. All the steps I took should be the same for your set as it is for mine.

Still no bites eh? This thing will be going on VideoGon this weekend.

Donahue,
Get your TV ISF calibrated by a certified ISF tech. I had my Sony KV40XBR700 done a few years back by Greg Lowen and it is awesome, 480P it looks sweet, I can't wait for the HD-DVD players to come out. I think it was around $250 to do the TV and the two HD inputs.
