I have a NAD T773 receiver & a Jolida 502B int tube amp. I want to use the same pair of speakers for both HT & 2 channel music. I want the Jolida to stand alone & not to be incorporated w/ the NAD. How do I do the hookup? My thoughts would be to run a set of speaker cables from the Jolida to the speakers along w/ a pair of speaker cables from the NAD. For HT only the NAD would be on & for 2 channel only the Jolida would be on. Can I hook it up that way or is there a better way? When one unit is on at a time is there a signal still going through the speaker cables to the other unused unit? Is this a potential problwm? Your info on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to ruin any gear. Thanks!!

Use a speaker selector and just wire it backwards.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

I got this from a website (forgot which one)...
How to use an integrated amplifier in a home theater system:
Increasingly people that were into two channel have bought surround systems and find them wanting for pure music enjoyment. If you want to improve performance and get the groove back consider getting a superb integrated and using it as a power amp too. Most integrated amps will function just fine in this manner.
It works like this. The integrated amp hooks up to your main speakers and you take either a CD or the left/right out from your DVD player and use it as normal for music listening. Nothing special to know. Just use it.
For surround, take the left/right main output from your processor or surround receiver and plug it in to the AUX or some other line level in on the integrated amp. All you have to do is switch to that input, and consider the integrated amp now as a power amp except for one simple thing: You have set the volume knob to a place and keep it there every time you watch a movie.
The volume control on the integrated has to be set at some mid position and set to the same position every time you use it. Pick a spot on the volume knob that is easy to remember later (typically 9 to 12 oclock on the dial) and use the test tone function on the surround processor to set speaker levels.
People sometimes make more of this concept than there is, or think there is more to do. Nope. Its that easy.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I considered doing this the other day with my Jolida 502A, but I didn't get the sound I wanted:
