Adcom gfa 555 coming this way

Well looks like I will be getting an ADCOM GFA-555 to power my sda 2's the only problem I have no is that I have no pre/pro. I was thinking of using the headphone out on my techics receiver to run into the amp( at max volume levels it puts out around 8 volts ac ouch to much, but at normal listening levels it's not much over .1 volts, and with the receiver turned up to -22 my the max level it will go , I'm just a little over a volt. so I should be cool.)
I read that to reach max output it would have to be 1.85 volts into the amp, It will never see that well not at least until after october when the lease is up on the appartment.
I was also thinking of getting an H/K avr 320 (it has pre outs) and using that, or another receiver with pre out if some one could recomend one on the cheap.
would not mind going pre/pro, don't want to spend that kind of money right now
also I tested the techics, and in dd/dts mode only the front 2 channels come through the headphone jack when in surround mode(bonus for first option) and I still can use the built in amps for surround., or if i get a pre/pro(unlikely)
I could use the technics 6 channel inputs for 5 channels, and the adcom for the mains.
right now the current set up is of course the techics recever, and apex dvd player(hooked up via coax) ps2 (hooked via optical) a sanyo 4 head hi-fi stereo(oohh)vcr sda 2 b's in front, infinity sm 100's in the rears and a panasonic center(I know, but it's just for movies, and just for now) I also have 4 more panasonic sats.
So if any one has an advice on a receiver, or a pre/pro on the cheaper side feel free, and if you just want to make fun of what i currently have please feel free.
later polkies

Outlaw Audio has a couple of nice offerings for pre/pros. I recently picked up their 970 for $699. The 990 is a few hundred $$ more but sounds better IMHO.

You could buy a very decent HK or Denon refurb starting at around $300.

I use a Baby HK receiver (240) and a Kenwood M2a amp for my front speakers with incredible results. Leaving the receiver to power center and surrounds it works extremly well without breaking the bank.
This from a dihard seperates nut. . . 6 months ago it would be fighting words to suggest a receiver for this duty. I'll never go back. . . -
