New Speaker questions
Hello Everyone!
I currently have a 5.1 surround using the old Polk RM6200 with a Denon AVR-1800. I moved to a new house with a larger area for the TV room and would like to upgrade the speakers.
I am looking at the RTi6 for the fronts, CSi5 for the center, FXi5 for the surrounds, and the PSW404 for the sub.
The room is 20' x 18' with one side opening up to a bar area.
One question that I have is with the FXi5 surrounds. They will have to be mounted on the back wall with the one on the right has a corner to help reflect the sound, but the one on the left has open space which leads into the bar area. Will the FXi5's be good in this situation or should I consider something else?
This will be used 90% HT and 10% music.
Thanks for the input!!

Bruce,
Welcome to the forum. It looks like you are definately on track with your speaker choices. I think the FXi5 will work out fine on the back wall. That is one of the nice things about them, they have the dipole/bipole mode that you can switch to depending on where you place the speakers (I can never remember which is which). The only thing I would add (and I am sure some others will back me up) is in the subwoofer. Polk is not that well known for subs and for the money you would be spending on the 404, you can probably find something from a company like SVS which will work alot better for you. I am not that familiar with SVS but others will be able to help you with model numbers.

I agree with Mike that you should probably look elsewhere for a sub. SVS, Velodyne, and Hsu are some of the brands to look for.KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780
