There's nothing wrong with the LSiC. Why re-invent the wheel?

That's because it's one of the suggested center channels for the LSi series as a whole....and vice versa.

The said that the LC265i could be enclosed in a 1 cubic foot box to create more bass and fuller sound.

    Per the rep!

"Well if you do not like the LSiC, there are a few alternatives. One is
to use a single LSi9 for the center channel either vertically or turned
on its side. An alternative for the hobbyist would be to use an LC265i
and build yourself a 1.0 cubic foot enclosure to use as the center
    speaker."

"Well the LSiC was really designed for the entire LSi series. If
anything you will notice more bass and midbass. The tweeters are the
    same."

What's the fascination with bass from a center channel? Will you or won't you be using a sub with the rest of your speakers? Massive amounts of bass are not in the cards for an LSiC or any homebrew version there of. Bass frequencies are none directional, therefore creating a center channel with more bass is not worth the effort, you simply won't know where the bass is coming from anyway. You can't get around basic physics.

Get the Lsi Center, crossover your receiver or preamp at 80hz and enjoy the magic.

A subwoofer is almost always in the mix. Bass frequencies are omni-directional or non-directional...whatever, but throw that box into a room, and that whole idea changes dramatically.

I believe the enclosure suggestion for the LC265i in-wall recommendation, is in fact within the wall....and if enclosed, would of course create more bass.

Before I would do any mods, I would measure the frequency response of your lsic. If the frequency starts to roll off before your ideal crossover frequency (probably 80hz, but I use 70hz for the center) then you might want to invest in a higher current amp. I had this problem with my lsi9s (I like to cross them over at 60hz), and when I switch out my outlaw amp with a converted Rockford fosgate car amp, there was a definite improvement in bass output. However, I didn’t really feel the need to do this with my center channel. I main care about the voice sounding good, and that usually doesn’t need much bass output.
    Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
    Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
    Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture.
