Hey out there,

I recently purchased the following:

Denon 3805 Receiver
Denon 2910 DVD
Polk PSW-505
Polk RTI-8 (front speakers) and have CS New Ensembles for the back and CS Center Speaker.

Questions::::

1. Should I connect my front RTI's to the sub and then route to the receiver or connect the sub directly to the Receiver and the subs to the receiver?

2. Should I connect my DVD with the multi-cables (six) to the receiver or just the one cable?

I am confused so your help is appreciated.

Thanks and put Zep CD in to clear your mind.

    Sub directly to sub out on receiver and since the 2910 is a SACD/DVD-A player you will want to use the six cables - otherwise no high rez sound from those SACD CDs. You may also want to have an optical connection from the 2910 to the receiver.

    If you use select the external 5.1 inputs (the six cables) on the receiver you are using the DACs in the 2910, if you select the optical connection input from the 2910 you will use the DACs in the 3805. So select the external 5.1 inputs when listening to SACD/DVD-A CDs and use either the external 5.1 inputs or the optical connection when watching movies. Experiment with which way sounds the best.

    you have Rti8's. Try the 60hz. setting on the xover as well.
    My 4's only show a -3db. at 60hz- check the specs for your 8's.

    sure- but it's not like they're running full range. And it's a Denon 3series. Those things aren't gutless by any means. They'll still be set to 'SMALL'. I say take advantage of the extra low-end capability that your 8's have to offer. Just a suggestion.

    No, good suggestion, I might even do that. it's worth a try. I found going from a 90 xover to 80 makes it more full. Wonder what 60 will do

    25-62hz is that magic number magazines constantly refer to for 'bass'
    wouldn't want my sub playing over that.

    I have the same reciever (3803) and player. I have the cables for CDs and optical for DVDs. The reciever is set for the correct audio inputs for each mode. They both sound great, so I don't know if there is much of a difference. (Also, make sure you read that 2910 manual, lots of rules on how things have to be hooked up for what you are playing).
