What is best for CD music??

Hi


If I want to hear CD music which amp do I have to buy, a 2 channel amp or a 5.1 amp (home theatre)??? Maybe the answer is 2 channel amp, but why? I hear some 5.1 amps playing CD music in 2 channels and I hear it very nice

Either is good. If you wanted to get as good as it gets, then two channel is nice because more of the cost has gone into the two channels.

In my experience, I've found Home theater receivers to be greatly lacking in the 2-channel music reproduction department. It depends on your listening habits however. Do you sit in the sweet spot and critically disect what you are hearing and get annoyed at the imperfections you hear or do you turn music on for background listening. Or, are you not into critical listening? If not the HT receiver is probably perfectly fine. If you are then a good 2-channel system is a must. I found (through much experimentation) that tubes and 'mellow' speakers gave the sound I was looking for in CD playback.

I agree. I'd also like to add that if you're only interested in 2ch CD playback, use a 2ch amp. Don't pay for extra amp sections you won't need.

Maybe for receiver, but for amps, a 5 ch can be very economical approach to bi-amping.

agree with tour. just make sure it's a musical amp to begin with.

oh and just as important as the amp is the source.

Bernardo start with Harman Kardon, Marantz & Denon for multi-channel.

my marantz avr says "because music matters" on over half the box

my marantz seems to satisfy me with music it sounds just the same in 2ch mode as my neighburs arcam alpha 3 setup .
(i took my mission m71i's round but they had to be shelf mounted as the cable was taked down the corner of the shelves (i had to put the foam plugs in the bass ports so the bass was less))
