RT3000 Blown tweeter

I guess I blew the tweeter in one of my RT3000 speakers.
The tweeter is not making any sound and has discoloration around the silver dome. In fact the black plastic is also discolored and slightly warped.
It looks like it actually started to melt.

A few questions for my fellow polkies are...

Could I have a bad cross over?
Is there an upgrade tweeter?
Is this the same tweet as my RT55's?
What should I do from here to fix this speaker and not blow the replacement?

Thanks.

It should be similar if not the same to the RT55 tweet.

Polk however no longer carries this PARTICULAR tweeter and carries that horrid silk as a replacement (all IMO) - I would just buy a pair of RT35 (or 35i, whatever matches) for your speakers - it'll only cost you about 70 more bucks and yall have midbasses and tweeters for future repair - you can sell the enclosures and xovers on ebay.

However, I would email and make sure Polk dosnt use different drivers (ohm) on the dual driver speakers than the single ones...

I guess that is what I will do.
I will take it out of my RT55's for now and look for replacement speakers later.
Is the same tweet in the RT55 and the 55i's?

    No...

The I series had a reworked crossover, midbass, tweeter, and enclosure - otherwords - entirely different.

Although it may work, doubt you could hear the difference really...
