Well I work at fry's and the day after thanksgiving sale the h/k 335 was on sale for $400. They sold out fast including the demo. I have only $850 to buy lsi7's and a receiver, I was going to get this denon 686s for 399(270 after discount) but it did not have any pre outs, cheapest receiver was the avr-240 on sale $400. Well I was looking through our system at fry's and saw the 335 and checked to see if we had any stock it showed 2 but one as demo and another as "sd". I went to the a/v department asked the manager if they had it he said no so I checked their backstock to look for the lsi7's, all i saw was the lsi9's checked behind them and saw the 335 hidden behind the boxes. I grabbed the 335 took it up to will call and bought it after work for only $350. Their selling the 340 for $799 as far as I know the only difference is the ipod dock right?

    You have the RTi4s?

If you want to continue that trend, then get the RTi10 no questions asked.

However, if you want a better musical experience, I would suggest stepping up to the LSi9 (spend the 200$ over the LSi7). BUT... this opens up a can of worms since you are going to need MORE than what the HK can deliver "current-wise". You will end up going into separates before you know it if you go LSi and if you're serious about your audio... look what happened to me. Yeesh!

Get a pair of the RTi6's and a CSi5 center. Use the rest and put it towards a good sub. You've already got the 4's so is it's best to stay with the same line, plus as good as the 335 is, it probably won't be enough to power the LSi's. The 6/4/5 combo with a good sub should provide you with an excellent home theater.

well the HK is SUPPOSED to be able to handle a 4 ohm load, so the Lsi's should be fine with it but a separate amp would be ideal. Id say to stick with the RTi line though to voice match a whole HT system and take it easy on the amp.

Just FYI on the 335 too, HK seels the refurbed 335 on its website, full warranty. Ive never had a problem with or minded refurb stuff. I just hope they last mong enough there so I can get one, as I have gone on a HT upgrade bender recently and need a bit of saving up for one.

There is a whole thread on audioholics about HK's shutting down. I dont know how prominient this is but a lot of people have experienced this, then again a lot of people have no complaints. I dont know if is something about the setup or connections or whatnot... Some people had it then got a replacement from HK and then had no problems... Seems weird to me.

I just got the 335 as well. I've got a total of 5yrs waranty on that puppy. So if it shuts off it goes.

Maybe the people whom it happens to are either pushing it to hard or it's not connected properly.

How important is the center channel right now everything is going in a room, so being off center is not an issue. If I buy a center channel will I gain surround effects that come from the mains in a 5.1 setup? I like my rti4's, but I want something a little better, which speakers rti's or lsi's will have the best mids? I dont think mixing the lsi's will matter as long as they are surrounds and the front 3 are the same. I could be wrong. Will the Rti8's have the best mids, and add the csi3(5.25) be the better option?

The centre is not needed per say. You can have a great system without the centre.

That's what I was hoping for I would rather spend the money on better front's or a sub.

I can get the Fxi3's and the Rti8's and either use the rti4's as the center or back surrounds I dont know if that's possible without a center.

Another option would be to get Rti8's and a velodyne sub the dps-10 or the one down. If I buy the Lsi's I get the cheap psw for free.

Any suggestions that'll have the best midrange and home theater set-up I say 65% of the time I listen to music.

Honestly I want the best pair of speakers I can afford that'll sound best overall for music mainly. I can only demo the 9's at Fry's and I can use the 340 to demo them. The Lsi7's are easier to drive than the 9's right? As far as what I have read the Lsi's will sound their BEST with seperates, but still sound good with the 335.

Get the LSi7's, then save up for a decent subwoofer(after you sell the PSW10). They are a little easier to drive than the 9's, so your HK shouldn't have a problem with them. Later, you can pick up a single 7, 9, or an LSiC to use as a center.

Since you want the best pair you can afford, the 7's should be towards the top of your list because of sound quality alone.

Either way... the 9s will sound better than the 7s on the HK335. Atleast, that's my take on it.

I wouldn't mind getting the 9's I heard a few people on here liking the 7's better. Atleast I can audition the 9's I will buy a good amp sometime this year, just hoping the 9's or 7's at half it's potential sound comparable to the rti 8's. I just want to hear everyone's opinion before I go up there tonight.

I heard the 9s and the 7s on an A/B switcher with the same components driving it... the 9s are better by a good amount to my ears. The 9s were my favorite for quite some time.. until I lost my mind just recently. :)
