Basic Wire/Cable Hook up Question

Hello all! I just purchased one pair of rti4, csi5 and the psw12 sub. I will be running them with a yama rx-v2500. My TV is an old Phillips 32", Samsui DVD/VCR combo, and a Denon CD. Question: I tried hooking up using S-vid from TV to receiver, S-vid from DVD to receiver, and Optical cable from DVD to receiver. Did not work. My question is what is the best way to hook everything up so the receiver will be the main hub and I will acheive the best sound and vid. I thought I was following the yama manual to the T but apparently I was wrong. Any experience and help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

You may have to 'assign' the S video as well as the optical connections from that DVD player on the receiver itself. Or, try getting in touch with Yamaha's tech support 1-800-4YAMAHA

    Welcome,

You will need your Svid from DVD to either directly to tv or into receiver then to tv. Either optical (toslink) or dig coax from DVD to receiver. Use analoge cables from cd player to cd input on receiver. You will need to assign the connections.
Set your speakers all of them to small and use the sub pre-out on the receiver to the sub . Set your xover at 80 in the receiver.
