Got this on MFSL vinyl for Christmas. Listened to it once yesterday and twice today.

Get it now.

If this album doesn't convince you, in spades, of the seductive sound of vinyl...nothing will.

Alison's voice is to die for...

She did a "Soundstage" (PBS) with Union Station that was very, very good.

One great thing about MFSL vinyl is that it actually improves with play.
    More later,

Her recordings are highly regarded in the car audio SQ world. Ive heard of more than one champion claiming to have tuned his system solely to Allison Krauss recordings.

I was always partial to Rebecca Pidgeon myself tho.

I'll back that up. Acoustic instruments on this, as well as her voice, really shine.
    Serious weight and dimension throughout.

Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, Audiophile pressings.

    Sometimes referred to as 'Mo-fi'.

Get a half speed Krauss and prepare to really **** your flat hat.

We have this on CD. So MFSL is currently making records? I didn't know anyone was still doing that. Cool.

Don't know why but the above made me laugh. :D

Umm...signing off before I get myself in trouble about vinyl.

But, I do love Alisson Kraus. Just like her on quiet, non-popping, non-scratchy, digital sound. ;)

My records don't pop, scratch, or make noise. That, and without the compression on cd? Gold Jerry.

Now, make it more convenient, and easier to use and I'll never buy a cd again. I won't lie vinyl is work, but sometimes it's worth it.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    Vinyl ain't for everyone.

THIS album is as clean and quiet as any CD you care to produce.

If your vinyl is clicking and poping and sounds scratchy, your stylus needs to be cleaned and your vinyl needs to be cleaned and handled properly.

Vinyl is currently the fastest growing segment in terms of sales of hard copy music. There is more stuff being put out on vinyl than there is in SACD/DVD-A/Dual Disc or whatever other format.

My latest find was a 5 record VOX recording set of all the Beethoven piano concerto's. He wrote these over a span of thirteen years and include his first known piece. Features Meta on the violin, the records are pristine and were had for 3.85 from the local GW.

Get yourself a decent TT, arm, cartridge and cleaning supplies. Then get your learn on. Since SACD is headed to the niche market it's real competition now is vinyl, there is a reason for that.

If and when the day comes that every piece of music I own can be downloaded to a hard-disk and there will be no degredation during playback form the original CD...I'M THERE. In fact I am seriously considering the Cambridge Audio Azur 640H Music Server to see if it might fill the bill. If it reproduces the music as well as their CDPs...this is the direction I'm going. There will always be a need for a CDP and TT just because all music isn't avaiable digitally and of course there's that copy protection crap...but I like the concept.

If it's doing that, then it's too late for that LP. (Excepting wet play...)
