I've been waiting for Fry's Electronics to get in some of the 60 GB white pods and they finally had one in tonight when I was going to get a new laptop.
Got home, set up the laptop and got it goin..went and opened the Ipod and was going to plug it in to get it charged and I noticed there was no protective plastic on the face. The first thing I noticed were a few smudges on the screen so I went to wipe them off but they're not coming off. The polished metal back had some scratches on it, and the charging cable was untied and just crammed into the section with the earphones.
This package was wrapped, and factory strapped closed with no indication that it was a return item or anything like that. Think that Fry's is going to be meeting my irate self tomorrow morning? Damn right...........

From this point on, I'm going to require them to open every single electronic item in front of me to prove that it's never seen someone elses eyes before mine.......
Returns are going to happen......but Fry's has this nasty little tendency to play off used items as new.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Raise hell, and you'll get it. I know you know that already..
I upgraded to the new 30G video one last week at Best Buy. It took me 40 minutes to get one of those uppity asshats to open the case for me. I am really nice to these people too...I went up to one of the stockers and said "Hey there, would you be able to open the iPod case for me, I would like to get one?" He says.."No you have to ask her (points)."
No problem, I want to ask her, but she's selling cell phones. That ate up around 15-20 minutes right there. Then someone comes out of the back and goes on one of the registers. I ask him the same thing as the first guy and he says "I'm sorry, but I'm not punched in right now so I can't help you, I'm not working." Then I just got pissed off, but didn't say anything. Found one of the guys in the yellow shirt and was a little more pissy with my question. "Hey, I need some help with the iPod case right now...Been standing around for 30 minutes and I don't really have the time to wait any longer." He says this "Yeah, and I don't have time to help you right now, I'm busy with someone else."
I just walked out...I guess what's $300 bucks to them? I'm done with Best Buy. -
Brett, do i detect some kind of trend here with you and Frys?
sorry that really bites when places try to pawn off used items as new.. if they had been honest and sold it as used.. then that's a whole other deal. but trying to pass it off as new... says alot about how much they care about their customers..
Also, after you've settled with them over the Ipod.. contact the Better Business Bureau in your state and let them know the mounting problems you've had with them. Someone like the BBB needs to hear about their dishonest business practices.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
They pull stupid stuff like that simply because the majority of people will just get mad but not spend any extra time fixing the problem because they know it'll be a pain in the **** and take forever. Just like how some contractors will build houses with crap materials and hope they don't get sued because it's cheaper for them in the long run.
Glad to see someone join the small group of people that actually stand up to this BS. -
I have heard, and susupected, Fry's has a habit of doing this. Then having terrible customer service or employees who are well trained to rectify the situation to boot.
That being said Fry's usually has some rediculous sales every now and then by me so I kinda just view it as a cost/benefit sort of thing. Anything that is normal retail prices though I go somewhere else for like CC, never had any complaints with them.-Stopher

I'm going to be asking them for the $.80 in tolls that I have to spend to make the trip back there too. Sometimes it's just fun to demand what you know you won't get...lolcomment comment comment comment. bitchy.
