contemplating selling my bike...

I've been pondering this for a while now. I bought myself a 2005 Norco Manik last year. I paid about $1500 after tax and now am regretting spending so much... I don't really ride enough to make it worth the money so I'm thinking it might be best to get as much money as I can for it while it's still fairly new. The bike itself is pretty mint other than a few chips in the paint where the chain hits the frame but that was only from the first few days - I put a bike tube on the frame so there shouldn't be anything other than what happened in the first couple days. I love the thing and I love riding it but I could really use the money more than the bike...
I'm just not sure how to price it. Obviously I'd like to get as much as possible but the 2006 model is out now and selling brand new for $1500 cdn. Here is where I bought it and this is the 06 one
This is my bike (05)
I'm not sure how much bikes depreciate in this short of a time, but I was hoping to ask around $1000. Is this too much? *btw all prices are in canadian*
I _might_ convince myself to keep it just because I enjoy riding it more than any bike I've ever ridden but money's tight right now and I sure could use that cash....

I went through hundreds of reviews on the bike before I bought it (one site was the one you linked). So it does sound like a grand would be a little too much. Considering the things is about 5 months old I'm not sure I'd want to sell it for much less Ahh the prediciments that arise when money is brought into things....
Some people in those reviews must have it setup wrong. Some say the brakes suck? I can skid the front tire on dry pavement with one finger on the brake, even with the 6.7" fork absorbing much of the energy It is a heavy bike but it'll take whatever you throw at it. (within reason of course...)
Thanks for the reply though. -
Hang on to it. Don't dump it for some quick cash. Just save up and be patient for whatever it is you need money for now.

Keep the bike. If you sell it for what it will go for used you will be kicking youself forever. Looks like a very nice bike, just go out and enjoy it. Weathers perfect right now to ride, I think todays high is suposed to be 78 degrees or something like that. You could sell it and buy a $100 Walmart special and really be pissed.

Keep the bike, come spring and summer, make sure you get on it.
Scuba, weather is not great for biking in Canada, unless you ride with spiked tires or like being under a garbage truck.
I bought our MTB 3 yrs ago we go through spells one year all we did was ride the next we rode a couple times the year after got on them a bit more. As mentioned if you sell it , the following year you'll want ot ride and you won't have your good bike. -
I agree. Keep the bike. I think you will regret it if you sell it. It sounds like you have a lot of fun on it....certainly get a lot more use out of yours than I do mine.Sharp Elite 70

I have to ask why you bought a freeride bike. Do you do that kind of riding?
Awesome fork and brakes on it, for sure. But I, too, would encourage you to keep it.
When I really started wanting a bike, this is the one I had my heart set one. Cannondale F800. Just too much money for me, though.George Grand wrote: »

Thanks for the encouraging words people... I'll try to make ends meet and keep the bike.Willow wrote:Scuba, weather is not great for biking in Canada, unless you ride with spiked tires or like being under a garbage truck.
I went for the freeride style because I do like that kind of stuff, unfortunatly I don't get out to do it very often. It seemed to be a fairly versitle bike (except for the weight) for what I like. I rode a few different bikes and this one just seemed right. Next summer I'd like to go up to the cabin some family friends live in and ride whistler a bit more. I went this summer and had a great time.
