Cheap DVD player?

Awhile back I seem to remember a thread on a cheap DVD player that was really high quality... not the Oppo Hd upconverting one. Anyone remember what brand it was?

Or alternatively, anybody got suggestions for a sub $100 DVD player? Doesn't need HD upconversion or anything special.

    Are you talking about the $59 Toshiba models?

    I thought it was a chinese/ walmart brand... Got a model # for the Toshiba?

    Yep that is the Toshiba number that was the rave for a bit. I thought it was for the sound of it though, not the picture quality, hell, I never even hooked mine to a tv set.

    The video quality is "ok." My $129 Panasonic betters it easily in that regard.
