Anyone use this model? DVD Benchmark thought highly of it. I just wanted some real user experience.

I use the 78 version which is the one before it.
I thought it's a good value dvd player. i don't have the proper display devices to show it off...but I think everything is working out fine for me. It's the cheapest I think you can go for dvd-a and sacd!
The difference between mine and this new one is divx and some styling...which i dont' care for as well.

Hi Zach!
I bought this player in July. No problems. I listen to SACD and DVD-Audio both in multi channel and two channel. I think it's a great player for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if this is the price range your looking for.Carl -
Pioneer has been great for video, I've owned (2) DV-525 and DV-333 (still do). These players are bit older, the DV-333 crapped out very early on in it's life, which a majority did. This was a very big problem for Pioneer. I actually took a step backwards at that point and started using the DV-525 which was the DV-333 predecessor. I've always been impressed with the video quality (although todays players are much better) but the audio quality in every DVD player I've heard blows chunks.
My Mitsubishi TV is older so doesn't benefit from having a spanking new DVD player. When I upgrade my TV I will do the same with the DVD player (unless this one dies sooner), but I will always run the audio thru an external DAC as there is absolutely no comparison, regardless of format (DVD-A or SACD).
Bottom line---Pioneer is solid, very solid for video and as I stated all DVD player audio sections leave alot to be desired.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
I may pick this one up a little later. I was going to get this for an install I'm working on because my distributor didn't have much of a selection in stock. I ended up getting a refurbed HK from their ebay store. I wanted to match the receiver(HK 135).
Thanks for all of the help guys.
