Subwoofer move & Phasing

I moved the sub to the back corner near the listening area and away from the front corner. What "typically" is the correct phasing for this application?

Hi, there really is no "typical" setup or "rule of thumb" because there are far too many variables involved. This is the best way to setup the phase switch on a sub. First you want to adjust the volume of the sub so it is balanced with the main speakers of the system. Now, put on some MUSIC (don't use a movie because sound effects, etc are too short lived) that has a fairly repetitive bass note to it, with a wide variety of bass notes. Now, you want to pay close attention on the area of sound which is slightly below the male human voice (this is your upper bass, your lower midbass region). This is the usually the point where the subwoofer will play up to (crossover frequency). Sitting in your prime listening position, it helps to have an assistant) switch the phase control back and forth. Which ever setting sounds louder, fuller or smoother in the area of sound mentioned above, is the correct setting. This means there is less cancellation at the crossover frequency between the sub and the main speakers. If you cannot tell the difference, which may be the case in some rooms, then set it to 0 or 'normal' and don't worry about it.
