Polk RM6800 Subwoofer Hookup

OK, I have read all the posts regarding this, but there are still some fundemental questions that I have not heard answered. Forgive me if the answers are obvious, but I think others out there would benefit from these "obvious" answers.
I just purchased Polk's RM6800 and an Onkyo 503 receiver. I originally hooked it up the way I had always thought to be correct using the LFE and a Y to the inputs on the sub. The manual was pretty much useless, but after some time on their website, I switched it to the "Polk preferred" setup using the speaker inputs.
My first issues was with the set up, when I set the subwoofer to "none", I could not change the front speakers to large, so I left it on "yes" for the subwoofer. Am I doing something wrong here? Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, the receiver allows the crossover to be adjusted from 60hz to 150hz. What is the optimal setting? I read somewhere that the speakers were set at 150hz, so I rationalized that a setting of 120hz would make it so there were no holes. Is this correct? The sound is good, but I am afraid I might be missing something with this set up.
Tonight, after reading all the forums and because my receiver had an adjustable crossover, I decided to go back to LFE and I think I like it better. Here is what I did, please let me know if there is a better way.
Using the reciever's set up menu, I configured the sub to "yes" and all the speakers to small. I set the crossover to 120hz. 150hz seemed to be missing something and 120 seemed to blend the bass better. This is the setting my receiver's manual said to use with this size speaker (I read somewhere that 150hz was the correct setting that would not double the filter, but 120hz sounds great). I set the subs volume to a about 2/3 and it sounds great for movies and music.
Am I doing this all wrong, or does this seem to be an acceptable configuration considering my AVR's ability to set the crossover?
Where do others suggest setting the volume on the sub? (I can't find this anywhere).
Thanks all for any answers/input/feedback!

Your -3db frequency is 130Hz on the low end for the sats and center and 110Hz on the high end for the sub, so you probably won't get a better crossover setting than the 120. I wouldn't pay any attention to the position of the volume knob on the sub. Try some DVD's with a variety of low frequency sounds like mechanical noise, explosions and music and play around with the volume to see what you like best.

Sounds good. 120 Hz is the best setting for most of the RM series satellites.
As for the sub volume, use a variety of material to set this volume, keeping in mind each recording may be mastered slightly differently. You want to shoot for bass volume that blends well with the rest of the speakers, it should not be so loud that the bass is overbearing and it is obvious where the subwoofer is located. Nor should it be too quiet that the system sounds thin. Experimentation is the best way to set the sub, but it shoulds like you're doing a good job of that-Eric

But this setting, seems to be missing 10 hz in the high end of the sub (110 to 120 hz) and 10 hz (120 to 130 hz) on the low end of the sats. Is this thought
wrong?
Anyway, does anybody know what is the crossover frequency fixed in the sub? RM6800

My friend has the RM6200's with a PSW303 that he hooked up to a new Pioneer VSX-1015TX and he says the sound is lousy. He has the pre out on the AVR going to both Line ins using a y chord, the low pass is set to 80 and all the satellites are set to small. After some reading I see the satellites roll off around 120hz so the 80hz setting is no good on the low pass filter.
Should he use the LFE in on the sub and set the xover on the AVR to 120 and leave the speakers set to small? It seems like the satellite speakers just don't have the frequency range needed to really make use of the Pioneer. No Kids Allowed

I´ve tried the speaker level setup with no good results. The output seems to be very soft and low. Also receives a lot of interference.
