to coincide with Superman Returns theatrical release in June '06 WB is re-releasing all the Christopher Reeve Superman movies in 2-disc DVD editions, Dolby EX sound and all new digital video that's remastered in High Def.

Most importantly, Richard Donner is being brought in to totally re-do Superman II to coincide with his original version that was hacked to pieces by Richard Lester after Donner was fired by the Salkinds. This story is well known by most of the fans and is easily accessible through Google if you don't know what i'm talking about.

I can't wait.

4 is being released, that was a misprint. IV will should be closer to it's original 135min. length (it was chopped down to 90 min. at the last minute due to a bad screening) The original actually had two nuclear men, not one.

The only ones that matter are the first two, ESPECIALLY 2- b/c it's last DVD release was halfassed to put it mildly. III will have about 20extra minutes added to it, and I must admit i'm curious in watching the wretched 4 in it's original form just for **** and giggles.

*edit here's a couple pics from the deleted scenes- i got most of the info about the 2006 releases from Wikepedia and links therein.

I've never been too interested in Superman but after reading about what happened to #2 and #4, I'll probably pick this up. The only one I've ever seen was 4, and it'll be cool to see it the way the director intented.
