MOMO 120's bottoming out

I have two MM120's running off an alpine mrv-1507, they are in seperate, identical boxes, with internal volumes of .9 cu. ft., playing directly into the cab of my prelude. I have tried using no fill, half a pound, and 1 pound of fill per box, and nothing I do helps the problem. There is no air leak in either box.
Is it possible that I'm just overdriving these subs? They sound great, and there is never any distortion, just the loud annoying clink of the voice coil bottoming out(at higher volumes).
I'll appreciate any suggestions or comments that you might have.

I built the boxes myself using 3/4 birch and a fibergalss coating. I have checked, and double checked for an air leak, but I can't find one. The loud and BBE enhancements on my headunit are off, and the parametric eq on the amp is set to -6 db at 80 hz.
