Can anyone help me? I have a pair of the HUGE SDA SRS speakers, and four of the smallest SDA SRS speakers I purchased in 1989. I really pushed the small ones, I have a Yamaha DSP (Digital Sound Processor) and used the smaller ones for the effects. I have blown 3 of the 4 tweeters in the small speakers, they are the SL2500 Silver Coil Dome tweeters. I really can't afford to replace these right now, but am desperate to repair these to make my sound complete again. Right now I am only using the giants for my system, and it sure isn't the same.
If anyone has any spare tweeters to fit my speakers that are in working condition, I sure would appreciate hearing from you. I will be more than happy to pay for shipping costs. Thanks to anyone for your help in letting me keep my wonderful speakers!

Welcome to the Forum! Sorry to hear about your tweeters. New ones are $48 each. Since you want to buy some used ones, consider placing a "Wanted to Buy" post in the Flea Market section of this Forum. Someone may be able to help you. Good luck!Carl

So, you've got three sets of SDA speakers and you are looking for freebie tweeters. Good luck. You can contact polk and they will give you a discount for being a Club Polk member. I think they go for $48/each.

I've got 4 Corvettes in my garage, but blew 3 tires on my favorite Vette and can't afford to buy tires.

The smallest of the SDA-SRS line would be the 3.1tl. You sure about your speakers or the tweeters in them? There were no SDA speakers that I'm aware of made with the SL2500 tweets to say nothing of the SRS line.Rhinestones wrote:I really can't afford to replace these right now
That sucks.Rhinestones wrote:Right now I am only using the giants for my system

Welcome to the Forums:
Not tring to rain on you but although there are a lot of very nice people in here to be sure, and you might luck out.... if "freebees" are handed out at all, probably most often go to members who are a bit better known.
Good luck on your repairs. -

I just replaced the tweeters in my SRS 2's with the new silk ones. I have 4 SL2000 tweeters in perfect working order for $20.00 each if this helps.Maketrax  -
I too just replaced the tweeters in my SRS 2's and have four sl2000 tweeters that are perfect you can can have at the same price as Maketrax if you need more than he has.My speakers were bought in 1987 and were stored in my house from 1993 to 2005 so the tweeters are in perfect conditionIf you don't know how many are blown try the cardboard roll out of a roll of paper towlels and hold it to your ear then to the tweeters as they are playing.Your really missing out not getting the silk dome tweeters though as they are much better sounding.rocketman

I'll certainly second that. Also, I would add that today I took Kens suggestion, and cleaned all the contacts. I used a weak solution of muriatic acid, then rinsed them good. I didn't have any of the SST contact stuff, so I used a small tab of Permatex Dialectric grease on each tab before reassembly. I can only describe the results as spectacular, more "even" in a sense...
Happy New Year, Polk Fans!!! -
I wonder, in 2099 are people gonna play Prince and sing "Tonight we're gonna party like we're 100 year old geezers"....?
