I have been trying to deal with the brightness of my system. Most of you told me it was my RTi 10's (your right again). I found some improvement by switching the IC cable to a Cardas and switching the stock power cord to an Audio Magic. However, it only helped. I am demoing a used pair of Canton Ergo 900 DC's. IMO - They are smoother, more three dimensional, have better mids, and are better balanced. The highs are still there and I would say these speakers are still a forward speaker, but I can identify the highs clearly and they are more accurate.

They cost $1,600.00. I don't know a lot about Canton. Are these speakers a good. I need some help justifying the coats vs. value. I'm sure there are a lot of choices for speakers at this $$.

Thanks

If you can, audition the Revel Concerta F12. They are very similar to the RTi10 in driver size and layout, but that's where the similarity ends.

They retail for $1200 per pair. You will be smiling! IMO this is the absolute best bang for the buck "full range" tower on the market right now for music.

    Here is the link:

Plus, if you do up a surround system based around them, they have a true 3-way matching center channel speaker with a vertical tweeter/mid range alignment flanked by the dual mid-woofers on each side.

Also bipole/dipole surrounds are available as well where you can actually hook 2 channels into one speaker if you wish.

With this system, you can get Revels in the house for about the same price as typical mass market Polk Rti, Infinity, JBL, Klipsch, Boston, etc.

Canton is an average loudspeaker, nothing really groundbreaking in design or performance. The build quality is usually pretty good and are generally overpriced.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    agree with doro.

I heard some but the listening enviorment sucked. I wasn't too impressed but that was the LE which I believe is their lowest line.

I see them as average. Build quality is good though like he said above ^
