Should I get the FXi5 or the FXi3?
I've decided on bipoles, but can't decide between the 3 and the 5. Will the larger woofer make a noticable difference? Both speakers will be set to small and the crossover on the HK will be set to 80 hz. Thanks.

If the FXi5's were a dual midwoofer design like the old FX1000's or the current LSiFX's, I'd say get the FXi5's. But, since they aren't I didn't see much difference in performance between the FXi5's and FXi3's. So, I say save a few bucks and get the FXi3's.

You'll probably get a fuller sound with the 5's and a bit more bass.
At one point I went from Rti28's to 38's in the rear and there was a sizeable improvement. No reason why the 3's vs. 5's would be any different.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I have never heard the FXi5s, but I do know that the FXi3s work very well for me. You won't be mad if you get them. If you are weak to upgraditis, just get the 5s to keep from upgrading. Thanks. I'll probably go with the 3's. My wife is already letting me upgrade so I better not push it. Plus our listening room isn't very big, so the 3's will probably work out better.
