Poor Sounding RM 6005's
First post. Just purchased a 5 speaker RM 6005 to accompany a Pioneer 515 5.1 Receiver.
Sound quality is awful, I don't have a Sub Woofer yet, but i figured I could get away without it for now. Can't even listen to CD's as it is so tinny and small sounding.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Those are Polks smallest and cheapest speakers. Obviously sacrifices are made at that price point and size. Return them and save up for a bigger set that fits you better.

You will definately need a sub with that config. Try to get something with a 10" or 12" woofer, and try not to go cheap on it if you can help it. You have to keep in mind that these things will only play down to about 125 or 150hz, so a sub is essential.
I'm still using some RM6005's in my setup. No, they're not the best speakers out there, but you can still make them work for you. If you set it up right, it'll easily kick the pants off of any HTIB. Make sure your distances are accurate from the main listening position. If you can get or borrow a SPL meter, make sure that all speakers are at the same volume level.
JaredHT Setup:
Pioneer VSX-D912K
Polk CSi30 Center
RM6005 Satellites (Fronts/Surrounds/Rear Center)
Nameless 10" Sub -
I just purchased the RM 6005's and I have a sub woofer. They still sound bad although I bet in your case without the subwoofer they really, really sound bad.
