Did anyone see this film yet?
I liked it very much. It certainly was not an easy movie to watch. It was very emotional. I thought it was great, however. Its one of those movies that I need to watch at least one more time to get the full value out of it. Nevertheless, I recommend it fully. It was captivating the entire time.

I have not seen it but from everything Ive read and heard about it, its basically a terrorist symphatizer film.
Glosses over the whole thing that starts the whole issue which is a bunch of peace loving muslims kidnap and muder a bunch of Israeli athletes. So when the Israelis do the right thing and send some trained killers out to seek a little "justice", it portrays them as ashamed and filled with guilt over the whole episode which is a load of crap.
Even the actualy guys, the trained killers, came out and released statements that they were damn proud of what they did and had no regrets! We could learn a lot from the "take no ****" Israelis!
This and Syriana are basically DNC and al queida campaign films. Way to go hollywood.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Boy, thats certainly not what I took from it. I think if and when you see it for yourself, you'll realize its not quite what you've heard it to be.
The movie does explore the natural human emotions of guilt/sorrow, whatever, things that you or I would feel if we murdered people and watched them die. I think its possible to both be proud of something and not be happy about it at the same time.
Also, throughout the movie, the main psychological tormentor of the main protagonist is not his actions of murder and revenge, but what happened to his fellow countrymen while held hostage. -
I like movies that allow me to escape from reality, this movie, I am sure, will fail in that aspect so I'll most likely never see it.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
i'm a huge Spielburg fan- and he doesn't direct many movies anymore, especially since DreamWorks just imploded & was sold to Paramount. Nice writeup Shizel. Found the underlying plot you described very interesting. Might be a good human condition flick.
yup those Dems and Hollywood types sure do sympathize with terrorists. In fact Osama was on my shopping list this year!
I don't live in the pool of Hearsay & KoolAid. This is exactly what happened with Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Mel Gibson's Passion Of The Christ. I gave those movies a chance at the theater and left very pleased with both. Think I'll give Munich this same chance. -

From what I hear, they dont put much effort on the hostages being murdered at all. And the guys that were sent in to kill the scumbags never felt ashamed, sad or anything but proud of it.
I think the thing thats got everybody stirred up is that this movie tries to put the terrorists and the Israelis. Terroirst are pure scum and less than human and any attempt to put them on the same moral level as us is what gets things fired up.
Plus Spielberg has admitted he wants this film to be a "protest" of a sort of the war on terror and its based on a book that has been discredited, "Vengance".
And dont forget, the entire Israeli government has come out and comdemned this movie! Thats pretty substantial!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Secondhand 'knowledge' is a great thing isn't it...

I'll stick to have previously read a very good book about the event.

Well, I guess I disagree, as it was a consistent theme throughout the movie. -
Cool. I hope Im wrong on this. Im a huge Spielberg fan and hope he hasnt jumped on the "political statement" bandwagon.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I want my actors/actresses, musicians, athletes, and Club Polk friends to stay clear of any political stance. If they want to run for office, that's different, but I don't want them getting all political on me. That's a very good way to alienate a good portion of their audience/fans and friends, imo."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Saw it...for just the pure entertainment factor I liked it, everything else was an insult. My main problem with it was this...when you're dealing with events that happened, it's important to be as historically accurate as possible, this film wasn't. The book that this movie was largely based on was believed to be a fabrication. If you're just seeing Munich, that's pegged as being true to the historical events you may be entertained, but at the same time you will walk away with historical falsehoods. Is this a big deal? Depends. It doesn't ease tensions between Palestinians and Israelis and doesn't lend creedence to the actual history, which is important. I find it to be a movie that is trying to sympathize with unsympathetic parties. The Palestinian targets were solely shown as well rounded human beings, which is true, but they didn't show why they were being targeted. That would have taken away from the sympathy you might feel, which I think was the underlying motive of the film. There's a lot more, but I think that's enough for now.
If you can take it for entertainment then there's no harm done, but if you walk away with false information Steven Speilberg has done an injustice to history.
It's hard to swallow that this came from the creator of Schindler's List. -
great movie IMO..maybe not enough CGI for some
-
just saw it in the local theater. An above average character-driven movie, so-so historical accuracy.
It's no Schlinders List. -
is it worthy to own? I haven't seen it. My criteria to own is repeat viewing value. thanks.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
-
Well, I plan on watching it again. So, maybe that helps. I think once or twice is all you need for this one though.
-
thanks, Shelby! that helps, I just don't want to collect DVD just for the sake of filling the rack.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

People shouldn't be forced to think;) -
saw it last night, it can be very hard to follow at times, half the time I had no clue who the people talking were until the main guys talk about talking to that person 30min later, you see what I' am gettin at. I'd say its worth a rental at best.Casey

rent it and watch it last night. It was ok for me, and somewhat predictable ending. Probably I won't watch it again, since it doesn't leave any lasting impression, other than the historical value of the event.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I herd a radio show after the movie came out. They interviewed one of the people involved in going after the terrorists. There was NO guilt or sorrow felt in what they thought of as justafied killing. I hear the movie is good but a work of total fiction.Michael

I just watched it on DVD the other night. A total waste of my time and money.Political Correctness'.........defined
