iPod Users - Question

I have had the older generation 20G iPod for about a year and a half. Last night I sold that one to my roommate for a good deal because he wanted one, but couldn't afford the latest generation. I wanted to upgrade to the 60GB video & photo iPod, so I went ahead and did that.

My question is this...I connected my iPod to my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound bay that's in one of the drive slots in the front of my PC. I did this using the fire wire port on that device using the fire wire cord that came with my old iPod since my roommate doesn't have fire wire access.

The iPod in it's current state is telling me that I cannot connect using a fire wire as it's not supported. Does anyone know why this feature was eliminated? I'm not looking for a USB/Fire Wire argument because i'm not concerned with speed and such, just what I have easily available to me. I opted to not put any USB ports on the front of my PC when I built it, I could add it, but I would prefer not to.

Does anyone have a way around this or am I just going to have to use the USB ports in the back of the PC? Not really a huge issue, but i'd prefer the easiest hookup possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry but don't think there is anyway around it. According to Apples website there is not even an optional firewire cable for the new ipods, and on the specs page they make no mention of firewire as as connectivity option. I would assume this is due to the vast acceptance of USB 2.0.

Man you need a usb port on the front of your modem bad. That's going to be a pain in the **** to hook up from the back of your computer everytime you connect your ipod.

Yeah, I don't understand it, but I guess that's the way it is.

I got it set up in the back and will just leave the able in there all the time. Won't be too big of a deal.

    :)

    BTW, this thing is AWESOME!
