Hi Polkmen.
I'm evaluating to buy an integrated ampli and, for the momennt I'm undecided between:
-denon PMA1550AE
-HK3380
I'm listening in stereophony to CD ( in future SACD and/or DVDA) and I've not in program vinil ( I don't give you the CD reader couse I'm going to change it in few time: philips 9000S? maranzDV6600? denon 1500AE?).
For speakers I've got RTI 12that ask for a lot of current. I've listent to RTI12 with: yamaha RX-V550 but it doens't do good job with dinamyc and deepness; today I use a lended ampli, the Technics SU-VX600 ( AA class) and with this I have a good level of quality.
THis Techinics, from your opinion, is inferior to the 2 said above (denon and HK) for my RTI12?

perhaps scrap that whole idea and start thinking about at least 200 watts per speaker. make those rti12's come alive! especially if you don't have a subwoofer.

Bizill, I think with speakers like RTI12 it's more important to look at ampere ( current) then watts (power).
Moreover the 70watts of the Denon it's really conservative and I don't need to explain you that the power on tech. data sheet are made with laboratory test ( on resistance)that don't have nothing to compare to real audio performance ( with impedance).
For your info the Denon weight more or less 40 lb... not light ampli I think...

If you are going Denon, get your arms around an old POA-2200,2400,2800 or even 4400 monoblocks to power those 12s. High current/reserve power is the goal.

alfdib, you're right that you should look at current, but those amperes produce the watts down the road. When someone here recommends high wattage, it is usually understood that the current is there to back it up. The RTi12's need both. They might sound acceptable with an integrated amp or stereo receiver, but they will sound considerably better with something a little better.

I guess I could have just said +2 on Bizill's statement........

alf, i'm sure the speakers would sound pretty decent on the h/k. but if you wanna drive those babies with some authority, pony up the cash and get some RAW power to them. i didn't go the rti12 route because i didn't wanna spend alot of money on a bunch of amplifiers.

ok guys! now it's more clear to me. As I don't have phonoisolated room and don't enough experience ( and money and time) to workon pre and final I'll take something less powerful and more easy... a simple integrated... in future I'll consider some new stuff as you are suggesting me.
Someones knows the Technics SU-VX600? Is it good Ampli?
    Thnaks anyhow.

If you can't afford the seperates, then step it up one notch to the HK 3480. It'll get ya 120 high current wpc and should suffice until you can afford to add a seperate amp to the pre-outs. The 3380 does just fine with my SDA 2As, but the 12s would probably do better with the extra 40 watts.
