I just auditioned a pair of LSI9's but wanted to know if anyone has personal experiences with these speakers mated with the NAD line for 2-channel music listening:

Will my amp be able to handle them? (of course the salesman said "yes")

Anyone familiar with the "synergy" between NAD and Polk speakers?

PS I listen to all types of music, with an emphasis on acoustic jazz and old R&B/Soul.

Thanks

I power my Polk RTi150's with a pair of NADs. On the left side a NAD C370, and for the right side a NAD C270. While not the same as having two NADs, a single NAD is better than no NAD and will perform well with the LSi9s.

I have a pair of lsi-9's and power them with a nad c272, the nad is a warm amp and the lsi's are warm speakers so they compliment each other. I really like the sound the pair produces...

Is it just more bass in the 9?

Also, do both speakers image equally, or is the 7 better (as I was told by a salesman)?

What's the scoop on this free subwoofer that is being offered by Polk?

    Thanks again.

The 9s are better, to me, overall. They seem to be a little less forward than the 7s and they have better balance throughout the spectrum. The midrange on the 9s is also better, perhaps due to a solo driver for anything above the 200hz crossover mark, which the 7s dont have. The bass goes deeper and has MUCH more impact. Vocals are better reproduced on the 9s as well.

Regarding imaging... I would say that they do so the same. Perhaps the reason why the salesman said the 7s would image better is that they are easier to drive and dont necessarily require an amp to tighten up the image. The 9s are a beast of a bookshelf, especially when you compare the 2 side by side. You will need an amp to get the best out of this guy.

    So, let's review.

    1. Better vocals.
    2. Cleaner midrange.
    3. More bass (cant say "better" since there is a reported bass hump).
    4. Less compression, better overall balance.

If you had the money - there is NO REASON why you shouldnt go with the 9s.

Some people prefer the 7's over the 9's just as they prefer the 15's over the 25's... it's personal preference, so if you can give them both a listen it would probably be to your advantage.

I run my 7's off a nad C352 and they work quite nicely together. Even if you feel you need more power or a different preamp later down the road you can always seperate the pre/pro from the amp with those integrateds.

Thinking about just going straight for the Martin Logan Vantage. I've sold EVERYTHING already..... only my Rotels (RC1070 and RB1070) are left to keep me warm.

I have the 9's, and I did prefer the 7's for female vocals, at low volume, a capella.....
    Seriously,.....I'm kidding.

No, they were smoother in that range. Probably 75 Hz over that hump that I've heard so much about, they were like butta....at low volume, a capella,...yadda, adviso, caveat, cuidado, e pluribus unum.

"Anyone familiar with the "synergy" between NAD and Polk speakers? - twp"

I can attest to the 'synergy' between NAD and Polk products... I've used this configuration for years... NAD 7100 Receiver, Polk Monitor 10-Bs. I wouldn't use anything less powerful for this combination, but this marriage was meant to last. (I just have to get some trych or de-oxit solution for the NAD volume pot....got the wrist-twistin' thing going on to get both speakers running.

Ran SDA-CRS with my NAD 7020 for 20 years. Receiver had no problem driving the speakers. I always liked the sound.
