I have a Sony Trinitron 36" TV that is about 3 years old. Lately, whenever I turn the volume up about half way, I get an annoying buzzing sound. At first, I thought it was due to a loose outer case that was vibrating, so I tightened up all of the screws, but that didn't fix the problem. Now I'm not sure if one or more of the speakers in the TV are damaged.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Actually, we don't prefer to listen to the TV through the HT system unless there's some good music playing (extremely rare!). Don't watch sports, except golf. Besides, I don't want my wife **** around with the HT system and the remote any more than necessary. Trust me, she'll press every button just for the helluvit.

You need a universal remote with Macro Functions my friend. The speakers in my TV are permanently OFF. Everything is through the HT and my wife, who is one of the most un-technical persons in the world, can operate it fine. 1-button to turn on everything and select the right inputs, etc. Another button to turn off everything. Basic buttons for controlling channel surfing and volume are clearly layed out. No problem man. Even golf sounds better through the HT system, trust me. Its worth the time and effort to set it all up.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Bill -- I have a universal remote with macro functions, but that ain't the issue. We realize the TV sounds better through the HT system, but we PREFER not to listen to it that way. Call us "old fashioned" if that helps.

Anyway, let's get back to the original intent of this thread. Just wondering if I have a busted TV speaker or some other issue.

Has anything changed? Like something else is plugged into the same socket as the TV that wasn't before.

Nope. I have the TV and HT components running through a Monster Cable surge protector.

The buzzing sound is intermittent and only comes out of the left side.

Are you getting audio from the RG6 or do you get your audio from RCA's coming out of the cable box?
