Trying to leave work last Friday at about 4, some 20 year old kid jumped off the Rancho California Overpass onto the 15 freeway. The cops shut down the freeway and overpass. He died two hours after the jump. From the looks of it he landed square on the hood of a car.

I don't like football and no nothing of this guy or his kid but seems it's that time of year again. What a bummer. I could not even imagine what it would be like to be parents and having to go through something like that.

Yep, we heard about it a couple of hours ago. Indeed a sad day in the Dungy family and Colt's camp.

They haven't reported the cause yet, and I hope it's not foul play or drug related for the family's sake. Tony Dungy is a class act and doesn't deserve to be put through the ringer with some **** or falsehoods that will likely be spread around before the truth gets discovered. I hope the media plays it by ear instead of printing/reporting unproven leads.

From reports on ESPN Radio all day, at this point there are no indications of foul play. Nothing was said about suicide; not sure where those reports are coming from.

This is a good reminder to take a step back, a deep breath, and hug the ones you love. One can go at any time... whether from sudden heart attack, brain aneurism, or undiagnosed sleep apnea. You just never know... :(

I think it's pretty clear now that it was indeed suicide....
Son of Colts' coach Tony Dungy found dead of apparent suicide in Florida apartment

By TRAVIS REED, Associated Press Writer
    December 22, 2005

    AP - Dec 22, 2:25 pm EST

LUTZ, Fla. (AP) -- James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, was found dead of an apparent suicide early Thursday, the sheriff's office said.

James Dungy's girlfriend found him when she returned to the Campus Lodge Apartments at about 1:30 a.m., Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

"Based on evidence at the scene, indications are that this death appears to be a suicide," Carter said. She said an autopsy was pending.

Dungy wasn't breathing when he was found, Carter said. A sheriff's deputy performed CPR before an ambulance took him to University Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

I know this only too well. One of my aunts died of a sudden massive heart attack this past Sat. night. I spent the afternoon with her at a family Chrismas party. She was the life of the party and the picture of health. I took the last photo of her on this earth. 8 hours later she was dead.

This happened also to my best friend a couple of years ago. Heart attack....no waning...death within seconds.

As bad as I felt after the sudden death of my aunt and friend...I cannot immagine the death of my child. I have a daughter that age (18). My heart and prayers go out to the Dungy family. Losing a loved one is hard any time but it seems especially hard this time of year.
