Now they need to shore up the pitching staff with some fresh talent or a couple of veterans that aren't 40 years old, unless of course they could re-sign the Rocket...he always said he wanted to retire with a Yankee uniform on. I was shocked when I heard that Boston and he might be talking. One of the so-called experts said that even though they might be talking, the odds of him going back to Boston are very slim.

On another front....

Kobe puts up 62 in only 3 qtrs. :eek:
After 3 qtrs. Kobe outscored the Mavericks 62-61. In the 3rd qtr he outscored Dallas 30-17.

Andrew Bogut had an awesome game winner last night! The crowd was going wild!

NYY lineup is just explosive, go back a few years and this lineup is better than some all star lineups. Agree they still need some starting pitchers to be dominate 100+ wins.

Please, they've been throwing money at hitters for the past four years (well, much longer than that, but they haven't won a pennant in four years). You have a team of prima donnas and they won't make it through the first round of the playoffs AGAIN. Wow, good job, you landed a 32-year old center fielder who throws like my younger sister.

I will lay down a bet right now that he doesn't hit above .280 next year. All his superpowers reside in his hair.

yeah, i was really hoping that the yanks would not jump on this one, dont think it is really gonig to solve any problems. he is not really a good defensive center fielder and that is really what they need more than more offense.

at least they have so far resisted giving away ungodly sums of money to a broken down pitcher with only one good year to his credit like the last two seasons...

I'll lay money that they win the Division AGAIN. Red Sox fans are the sorest LOSERS of all-time. All they ever talk about is The Yankees this and Yankees that. If I remember, Boston has the 2nd biggest payroll. You're just like the rest of the Red Sox faithful..ya'll were the biggest fans of Nomar, until he left, same with Damon, same with Clemens, same with the Babe.

As far as a rivalry goes....pfft. I don't call a total domination a rivalry. And well 26-2(since 1918 or so) in World Series isn't even close, either.

As a matter of fact, I was actually happy for the Sox when they finally one their 2nd World Series in over 80 years, just like I will be happy for the Cubs if/when they ever win one. Just like I was happy for the White Sox last season. I appreciate good solid teams, whether I'm a supporter of them or not. You obviously have had so many years of frustration that all you can do is blame the Yankees for the Sox' inadequacies as individuals, a team, and an organization up until very recently. I always root for the team that eliminates my team in a tournament or in the playoffs.

Hey man, it's all in good fun, I didn't mean to be a dick about it. I attacked the move and the team, maybe even the players - it's what people do in sports. Don't take it so personally. I get a little "riled up" about sports teams, it's in my blood. I whine and **** about my team, I whine and **** about the teams I play, at the end of the day I'll still sit down and have a beer with a Yankees fan just as much as one of my own. It's just sports, man. What fun is it if you don't get passionate about it?

One of my closest friends is a Yankee fan. During baseball season he'll IM me daily about how the Yankees are going to toast us again, 26 World Series to go to catch up, etc etc, I tell him A-Rod and Jeter have sexual relations, then we laugh and move on.

It's not like I insulted your kids little league team.

No biggie, I get riled up to. I was a three sporter myself, and baseball was my game. Sorry for the rant. I just hate it when people want to blame the Yankees or any other team for there teams or leagues problems.

if it weren't for the Yankess, baseball wouldn't be where it is now, after the strike. They sell out every game they're in whether at home or on the road. That's a good thing. Because of revenue sharing, the sell of Yankee merchandise benefits ALL the teams. I'm not a bandwagon fan, either. I've been a Yankee fan since I could say Yankees. I've been through more than a few ugly years, too.

I'm not too sure about the Damon move, either.

What bothers me right now about the Yankees is that they were always good at developing there own players and have gone away from that the last 4-5 years.

George just wants to win now since they haven't won one in several years. Maybe once he gets his next ring, he'll revert back to what got them the rings of the 90s.

exactly! this is what lead to so many problems for them in the '80's. they bought a winner in the late '70's and then painfully tried to do it again throughout the '80's. it was only when they went to their player development in the early '90's that they built up a good enough core of players that they were able to dominate. now they are just trying and failing to hang on to that...i can only hope they revert back to keeping development as a priority. at least this offseason they have not so far done anything too stupid...

I was actually hoping that they would get rid of Cashman, though it's hard to tell if it's him or George or a combo of them both that's the problem. I know it's not Torre's fault. He's the only manager I know of that can handle all those egos.

I absolutely agree - the Yankees pretty much ARE baseball. When you think of passionate fans, it's either the perrenial losers (Red Sox, Cubs) or the perrenial champs (Yankees) who seem to have the biggest draw. And, as a Sox fan, I certainly can't knock the Yanks payroll - you're number one by a big margin, but we're number two by an equally big margin to the rest of the league.

My friend the Yankee fan is always complaining about hte same thing regarding the development of players. At least you have Cano out there at second base. Seems most teams have been trading away their prospects for big names... it makes it hard to relate to your team year after year. As a Sox fan, I hate hte fact that our ENTIRE TEAM is different this year (right now only right field and catcher are the same as last year, aside from pitching staff). It's nice to have a core of players who you stick with, and players who come up from the farm league and have an emotional interest in your team, rather than just af ield full of mercenaries.

Good grief, a Brave's fan whining? About what? Your total domination over your respective division for well over an entire decade?

What gets me is how can the largest city in the nation, with arguably the greatest, and probably most exciting team of All-stars, not sell out every game?

I hate the Yankees and I am proud of the 2001 M's for taking away, what Torre called their unbeatable record of 114 wins in a year.
