I'm compiling a Christmas list of some great sounding music dvd's. What's your opinion of the sound quality of the live Cream dvd? Some of the
better sounding ones I've heard are:
Steely Dan-Two against nature live
Eagles-Live from Australia and HFO
Concert for George
Diana Krall
Music for Monserrat
Elton John-One night only
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

In what context? Are you asking for multi-channel; 5.1; 7.1, Dolby Digital; DTS; PCM.
I'm a 2-ch guy but very much enjoy well recorded concert DVD's. I hvae no use for multi-channel ratings. I will say some music DVD's leave much to be desired on the 2-channel (primarily PCM) output. Personally most music DVD's are all over the board SQ wise.

I'm mostly interested in multi-channel dvd's. The 5:1 mixes by Elliott
Scheiner on the Eagles and Steely Dan dvd's are my favorites. He's
a very aggressive mixer, puts a lot of vocals and instruments in the rear channels. Sounds fantastic to my ears.

Great. My favorites are from the POV of a 2-channel set-up.
Jewel-Live @ Humphrey's By The Bay. The acoustic solo section is simply fantastic.
Stevie Ray Vaughn-Live @ The ElMacambo Club
No Doubt-Tragic Kingdom
Led Zep-DVD (goes without saying, but I said it )
Norah Jones-Live in New Orleans
Legends-Live @ Montreaux
King Crimson-Eyes Wide Open
Cross Roads Guitar Festival
Sarah McLachlan-Mirror Ball and/or Afterglow
Depeche Mode-One Night In Paris: The Exciter Tour 2001 (note this has no 2-ch setting) I listened on a friends multi-ch system and it sound awesome plus the video was done by Anton Corbin)"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I picked up a couple of dvd's earlier in the week and was playing around with them at work. 3 Doors Down - Live in Houston and Peter Cincotti - Live in New York. Both are under the Monster Music label (yes, our friend Noel Lee), but they sound really good from what I've heard so far. They both have Dolby Digital and DTS (full 1.5 mbps on 3DD and I think the Concotti disk too). Swing in the store if you want to check them out Dave.
