Ok, ok, okay.

I want to know who in here has ever owned a piece of stereo equipment they were proud of ... only to find out later it was a piece of crap? ha ha ha.

I remember my first ever stereo.. was like 15WPC and had these speakers that would flash different colors to the music... i thought it was the coolest thing.. of course it was pretty lame now. I think it was a Radio Shack quadraphonic system..

Anyone here want to fess up anything and cleanse your soul once and for all?:D

Danger Boy, it may be that you've already taken the cake. Who in hell is going to be able to top the Radio Shack quadraphonic system, what with it's magnificent colors and all. I can imagine you staring at that spectacular, whirling extravaganza of color for hours. Totally baked, no doubt ;>}

My first system (back in 1984) was all Technics which consisted of a 35wpc receiver, 3 way speakers with a 12" woofer and a belt driven turntable.

I really thought I was the **** back then! Now, it's just a really good laugh.

Fess up guys. We want to hear it.

MY first sterep was made up of a school project radio and one of those early 60's recordplayers with the built in amp. I thought this was great circa 65.

my first bose am7 and am3 with an onkyo rcvr 80x3, 25x2..so glad to have moved on but i did think it was the shiznit for awhile until i heard polk towers

Ah memories;
My first was a Magnavox console system...15wpc receiver with built in turntable and 8-track...it was basically two octagonal end tables (one had the electronics and left speakers, the other space for records and 8 tracks and the right speakers). Magnificient...sounded much better than all of my friend's Soundesign set-ups.
I later "upgraded" to a 40wpc all-Fisher rack system. How embarassing!

Sure, we have ALL owned crap at one time or another. When I was 13, I was all pumped about my SoundDesign system....Until recently, I had a Technics rack system that my brother in law is using.

My thing is, at the time that was what I could afford so while I have owned what was not exactly the greatest, it was what I could swing at the time so there is no shame in that.

1984 Fisher CD player - purchased open box for $69.

Some generic bigass 3-way speakers I purchased used a long, long time ago - similar to Cerwin Vega design.

My first was a horrid sony double tape deck boombox, with silly bass boost and simu surround buttons. I wore out the skid row tapes on that baby...woooo

Fisher mini-system. Am/Fm dial tune, dual cassette deck with high speed dubbing, 5 band eq, turntable, led power output meters....

Speakers were 24 inch tall mini-towers that housed a single 5 1/4 inch driver with a whizzer cone....

Judas Priest, Iron Madien, Rush, and Queensryche....with perhaps a little Foreigner thrown in....(joined the Columbia house music club twice, got my free cassettes, never paid a dime)

Oh God;

Let’s see if I can think that far back.

What I had was a 1964 RCA Stereo unit that had two cabinets; both cabinets were finished in real rose wood. The right cabinet had the right speaker system in it and the electronics. Which were the tube amps, radio with electronic tuning eye, Gerard turntable and preamp. All the knobs lit up when you pulled on the power knob. The left cabinet contained the left speaker system. The speaker configuration was strange, each cabinet had four 31/2 tweeters pointing in deferent directions and one 12” woofer. I also remember that the radio pickup am,fm and short wave radiobroadcasts. It also came with a demo record called RCA’s SOUNDS IN SPACE. I always taught it sounded ok, but not great. That was until I donated it to a local museum and they went nuts over it! I still wonder what I really give away.

Oh well when were young we all do really dumb things.
