OK i ordered my rti4's yesterday that i'm going to use as mains for alittle while as I search for new mains. I have a csi3 center and a svs pb-10. Now i've narrowed it down to either rti6 and rti8's and i'm leaning towards the 8's. The fact that they are towers is appealing and I have a hole in the midrange section although replacing my old stupid mains with any of the above rti line might fix this. Now i need to know if this is a good choice. Is there a big enough difference between the 8's and the 6's to spend the extra money on? And will they fill in the hole in the mid range even though they will be set to small due to having the pb10? Thanks!!

8's. You'll need stands (preferably good ones) for the 6's anyway. Get the extra mid driver, increased power handling, increased efficiency, better low end response, and forget stands.

I'd go for the 8's. Theyre a good value. Find a retailer, either a local store or an online retailer like crutchfield.com that offers the free polk PSW10 with $500 polk purchase then you can sell the sub on eBay or craigslist so you get a bit of a discount overall. My store even just let me apply the $199 value of the sub to another polk speaker, maybe you could get a free CSi3 and return the one you got already. Or keep the sub but the SVS puts the polk to shame im sure :) Im biased though cause I got the 8's but I dont regret it for a second.

for hometheater with a decent sub, get the 8's.
For music get the 6's and a GOOD pair of stands that can be filled with sand/leadshot.
If your room is smaller, the difference in the 6 and the 4 is negligible.
If you're using a great sub set to 80hz, the difference in the 8 and 6 are also neglibile.

Thanks! That's pretty much what i wanted to hear. 8's it is then! I get to get them sooner than planned thanks to getting a duplicate christmas gift. Gonna sell a brand new canon powershot 7.1mp digital camara on ebay. It's the really small one the one that has the pic of the camera with the house key next to it to show off the small size Hopefully I get enough so might not even have to add any money into the 8's, but i guess thats wishfull thinking...but then again if i hurry it is the last week before xmas!

    Jer_ry, this is Jerry LOL

Go with the RTi8s, I have both the 8s and 6s. Both are great speakers, and you will not go wrong with either. But the way I look at it, in addition to the above mentioned benefits of the 8s, there is one more. The 6s will need good quality stands, and by the time you pay for those, you have help to narrow the price gap between the 6s and 8s.

I recently purchased the RTi8's and absolutely love them. they have VERY good sound for their size and price. Plus, they are fairly sleek and slender, and don't stick out like a sore thumb.

    Good choice on the 8's!!

RTi8's for sure. 6's and 8's are both good speakers and would do the trick. RTi8's will fill your room a lot nicer when you play your movies.
