I know this is unrelated and you might not know the answer, but what's the concensus on playing games on your RPTV? It used to cause 'burning' issues of images on your screen. Has this ever been resolved that you know of?

The Hitachi RPTVs have a feature to "whitewash" the screen every once in a while if there's burn in, but not sure about other brands.

Burn in occurs only on Plasmas and CRT RPTVs. DLP and LCD RPTVs are fine. Apparently even on Plasmas and CRT RPTVs burn in isn't really any issue on newer sets. You have to have the contrast and brightness maxed out and leave something on screen for many many hours.

Yeah, I don't have a big screen (saving for a gigantic DP on a new house), but I always remembered that about RPTVs a long time ago. Maybe it was just hyped up. That would definitely suck to have Mario perma-burned on your TV screen.

Some old arcade machines that used big screen monitors have realy horrible burn in. I've seen some Daytona 500 machines with permanent 'insert coin' text.

i'm sure screen burn in still occurs. i always switch up video games and/or movies frequently to ward off potention burn-in. my hitachi is 2 1/2 years old and does not have said 'whitewash' feature. never heard of it. new models offer this? anyway, switch up games often and you're fine with these newer sets.
