A friend of mine took this pic TODAY, as the UPS truck pulled up to the dock at his office.

Scary.

Think maybe there was a hard left somewhere in that flight plan?

    Hard left, GOLD.

Just think of the Mac Receiver on the bottom of the stack, with the broken glass and bent faceplate.

No wonder so many packages look like they've been dragged behind the truck for a while. And to just think that that is only ONE of the many trucks it's been on during it's journey...

Peak season really heats up after Thanksgiving at UPS. That is a rental 'straight truck' with no shelves. Could be temp help for peak too. It appears there is no cornerstone loading practiced in the back of that truck. There could have been before the load shifted.

Around 17 years ago I came up with a sling-latch deal to install temporary shelves in rentals at UPS. It was a big hit until I left there in '91. No idea what they do in Rentals now.

UPS and FedEx will go to the same body builder but spec their PUD's (Pickup Delivery Vehicles) differently, equipped with shelves. Some specialized vehicles are built with the shelf delete option and use cargo restraints that lock into the side walls to adjust for the amount of freight.

Always pack well, no matter who you ship with.

They work these UPS guys into the ground this time of year. Theyre out for at least 12 hours a day running their asses off. Rather than hire a couple extra drivers, UPS will pack their trucks till they burst and then send them out.

Still, I dont have too much sympathy. Theyre making $23 +/- per hour!
