Is there any kind of upconverter one can purchase that will upconvert DVD's to 720p or 1080i without having to buy a new DVD player? I have the "older" (last year's model) 400-DVD disc Sony Megachanger that does NOT have upconversion, but would like to be able to upconvert the video signals coming out of this player to my HDTV - is this possible?

You could purchase a scaler but that would probably run you more than a new dvd player would.

Your TV will upconvert the image to whatever your tv's native resolution is. You only need another upconversion if the one built into your TV is not that great. (So your TV sees the signal coming in already in its native resolution, and doesn't mess with it)
